(Director / Chief Executive Officer)

Dr. Angelina Ugben is a highly respected Nigerian advocate at the intersection of disability rights, sustainable development, and women’s empowerment. Renowned for her commitment to social justice, she champions the integration of persons with disabilities (PWDs) into climate action, inclusive governance, and economic development across Africa and beyond.

As Founder and President of the Global Disabilities Green Initiative (GDGI), launched in June 2025 at Nigeria’s National Assembly Complex, she leads efforts to empower 10,000 PWDs as “green leaders” by 2030 through programs in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and climate resilience—redefining PWDs’ role in Africa’s green economy.

Dr. Ugben also serves as Executive Director of the Inclusive Skills Development Initiative (ISDI), delivering practical training for PWDs to thrive in various sectors. As National Social Welfare Secretary of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), she shapes inclusive policies. GDGI and JONAPWD have collaborated on initiatives like nationwide tree-planting campaigns and solar lamp distributions to students with disabilities, promoting environmental sustainability and social inclusion.

A visionary social entrepreneur, she founded God’s Habitation International to equip PWDs—especially women and girls—with business tools and training. As a 2023 Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme alumna, she credits it for enhancing her sustainable income generation and showcasing PWD entrepreneurs’ potential.

Dr. Ugben advocates fiercely for gender equity, supporting Nigeria’s Reserved Seats Bill for women, including those with disabilities (women hold 16/360 House seats). She participates in UN workshops, climate dialogues, and collaborations with government, civil society, and partners like Connected Development (CODE), bridging disability inclusion, environmental justice, and women’s leadership.

Her impact has earned recognition: named one of the 100 Most Influential Women in Africa by Women Who Win Africa; honored with the Challenge Champion and Heroes Award in 2024; and awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy by the United Graduate College and Seminary International (USA).

Through her leadership, Dr. Ugben empowers PWDs—particularly women and girls—to drive inclusion, leadership, and economic transformation for a more just and sustainable Africa. As a founding Director and CEO at Castlerock Econetwork Africa Ltd (CEA), she guides strategic initiatives in sustainable development, leveraging her expertise to foster innovative, eco-conscious growth.
